History of Essential Oils
What are essential oils? Essential oils are produced by plants; the essence, if you will. The oils are extracted and bottled as "Essential Oils". Humans have been using essential oils for centuries to help cure illnesses and to prevent illness.
When the plague was spreading through Europe, there were people who would go around stealing from the dead. These thieves were never inflicted with the deadly illness. After they were caught, they admitted to using a blend of essential oils in order to protect themselves from the disease.
Each essential oil has individual molecular compounds that work differently in the body. Anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-inflamitory, and anti-depressant are some of the properties of essential oils. For example, lavender is a great all-purpose essential oil. Lavender has been found to effectivly treat burns, skin irritations, and also helps the body to relax.
Essential oils can be utilized in three ways: inhalation, application, and ingestion. Please be sure to check with your doctor if you are taking any medication or if administering to a young child or infant.
